I really think I need to move to Harlem. The lower Manhattan commute from the Bronx on the 1 train is just way too dreadful for me to tolerate much longer. Making the trek uptown from Astor Place this afternoon made me realize this. Not even really considering Brooklyn as an option since I'm looking for practically, not trendiness - function over form here people. I've heard that Hamilton Heights is the spot to check out especially for their fantastic brownstones. Plus, it's location is perfect for subway rides downtown for work and leisure and uptown for visits back home. It would be pretty amusing telling people, "Yea, so after living my entire life in the Bronx I felt I should move on to greener pastures. Thats why I decided to move to Harlem". As for now, it's just a thought, but one that I'll have to return to in the near future.
I was down there to begin with so I could get prepped and trained to work at this thing tomorrow.
Pretty cool I must say. Even cooler is that I get paid while these little kids will be dancing on some light up dance floor a la Billie Jean video. If your in the area come by the Verizon tent and say hi. I'll be the dude in the red shirt trying to look busy.
After training I took a stroll along Spring Street so that I could make mental checklists of all the things I want but am still too broke to buy. Why does Ben Sherman, American Apparel, Uniqlo, and Urban Outfitters always make me feel empty if I don't purchase something right then and there?
Thankfully an act of God appeared before me as I walked a few blocks north.
Mr. Softee motherfuckaaaaa....aaaah shiiiit.
Vanilla cone with chocolate sprinkles. That's right, be jealous bitch.
Too bad my ice cream high didn't last too long when I found out from a chick working at Other Music that not only do they NOT carry vinyl of She & Him or Wye Oak but that they don't even EXIST as LP's. Sadly, God did not send me another ice cream truck to greet me outside the store.
