Daily Recap -Natty Light, Girl Pop, Fan Boy-ness

No post yesterday due to my priority to pregame for the final Fordham Senior Night of the year. ::teardrop:: Kudos to Tigermart for always having a cold stack of these bad boys on supply.

Fuck all you PBR drinkers. Cool kids drink Natty light and thats just the honest truth.

While hungover at work today I came across an upsetting piece of news courtesy of the NME. British girl group The Pipettes have dismantled. Well, not totally anyway. Rosay and RiotBecki, two-thirds of the pop three-piece, left to "pursue other musical interests" leaving Gwen the lone Pipette. MonsterBobby, the group's guitarist and musical director, has already filled the void bringing in two songstresses to take their place. Haven't gotten a chance to check them out but it'll be pretty hard to replace RiotBecki's geek-chic prescence and Rosay's syrupy smooth vocals as evidenced on her lead in "Judy". For further info click here.

(RiotBecki, Gwen, Rosay...wonder if they had to return the dresses).

In other news, I can now finally attempt at becoming a functioning member of society after an intense two-or-so weeks of catching up on the past 3 seasons of Battlestar Galactica. Forgive my fanboy like enthusiasm when i say it is SO FRAKKIN GOOD. I was turned onto the BG after hearing it referenced ironically enough in the now laid to rest The OC. Writer Josh Schwartz always made sure to plug some of his favorite little pieces of culture including: Chuck Klosterman's Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs, bands Death Cab for Cutie, Bright Eyes, The Jam...all of which I was already fond of. Battlestar got a name drop and I must say I'm very pleased it did.

(because this pic doesn't scream, "I am the real Seth Cohen".)

Also on the Josh Schwartz OC recommendation list is Michael Chabon's "The Adventures of Kavalier & Klay" which in a nutshell is two Brooklyn kids + comic books = sickawesometastic...or so I've heard. Knew the book was a done deal in terms of my favorability when Brian K. Vaughan( my favorite comic book writer of titles such as Y: The Last Man, Runaways, Ex Machina, Pride of Baghdad) wrote an entire graphic novel, repeat, an ENTIRE graphic novel based on the hero( The Escapist) created by the two central characters in Chabon's book. It's almost a logical grapevine of fandom i.e. an Oasis fan picking up on Liam's love for The Smiths.

Final Note: Someone just drove by downstairs blasting Alanis Morrissette at 1:12 in the morning. Still trying to determine whether thats bat-shit crazy or totally awesome.

Depends on which album it was. If it was Jagged Little Pill, then, speaking on behalf of the 90s teen generation, awesomeness must be bestowed upon the blast-er.
